On 23rd of March 2006 on the initiative of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the B&H Ministry of Foreign Affaires the “Conference on Tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina” was successfully organized. The aim of the Conference was to present the possibilities and the potential of the tourist industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina, so the focus was on two key areas of interest: presentation of investment possibilities in B&H tourism sector and presentation of tourist offers in B&H.
The Conference succeeded to improve and further develop relations and cooperation within tourist sector between two countries, and at the same time enabled British investors, tourist organizations, agencies and tour operators to establish direct contact with potential partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
For this occasion the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina organized an exhibition of the hand-craft and old traditional craft objects from our country. During the Conference, the guests and participants had the opportunity to taste national wine and various food products.
The President of B&H Council of Ministers Mr. Adnan Terzić and B&H Minister of Foreign Affaires Mr. Mladen Ivanić opened the Conference and many other distinguished guests and participants spoke about the tourism and economy in B&H – Principal Deputy High Representative for B&H Lawrence Edward Butler, Mr. Aygen Yayikoglu, Head of the EBRD Office in Sarajevo, Mr. Haris Bašić, Director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency in B&H, Mrs. Alnija Brusokiene, General Manager of the Alumina Factory Birač in B&H, Director of the British Council in B&H Mr. Chris Rowlings and Professor Tom Selwyn together with 2 B&H students from The Metropolitan University who presented 14 M.A. works about B&H tourism.
Many politicians, diplomats, interested investors, bankers, consulting companies, tourist agencies and tour-operators, journalists attended the Conference which was very well accepted and sent the optimistic message for investment opportunities and tourism in B&H and a positive image of future direction for B&H.
